Apple Stock Soars After Company Reveals New AI Features | Nemo

Name of opportunity: 👀

Apple, Inc

Wowing the crowd: 🤩

The reason for Apple’s huge spike in value is the new AI features unveiled at this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference. Apple described its offer as ‘AI for the rest of us’ - AI services that are focused on ease of use, privacy and security, and a customised, personalised experience. Calling it ‘Apple Intelligence’, the company say their AI service will be able to provide writing support and generated images including Genmojis (AI emojis that users can create based on images of their friends or verbal prompts). Apple also announced that ChatGPT will be integrated into Siri, in a new partnership with OpenAI.

How hot is this investment opportunity? 🔥🔥🔥

While some said before that Apple was lagging behind Google and Samsung in terms of AI  integration, now the playing field is levelled somewhat. Analysts are saying that while the new features might not drive iPhone and Apple devices sales in the immediate future, the new AI capabilities Apple displayed might give future devices a sales boost. Users who are seeking an AI experience may now be more likely to stick with Apple.

Analysts do say that the value of Apple is likely to drop slightly soon, as the boost it has received since WWDC might be unsustainable. They predict it could drop by 4.88% in the next 12 months - however, as it has gone up by 11.4% in the last 6 months, the stock will not lose much of the ground it has recently gained.

However, even if Apple does experience a minor drop in value like this, it should not affect its status as a major player in the tech industry, and one of both the Big Five (Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta, Microsoft) and the Magnificent Seven (Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, Tesla).

Biggest in the world: 🌍

Apple is once again the biggest company in the world when measured by market cap, having overtaken Microsoft, with a market cap above US$3 trillion. Apple, founded in 1976, designs, manufactures and markets smartphones, personal computers, tablets, wearables and accessories, and sells a variety of related services. Its software platforms include iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS. Upcoming products include an updated Apple Vision Pro XR headset which will be cheaper than the current Vision Pro, and AR glasses rumoured to be released in 2027. There are also suggestions that Apple might release a folding iPhone (or other portable device with a folding screen).
