Name of opportunity: 👀

Amazon.com Inc

Amazon invests in Anthropic: 💸

Amazon holds a minority stake in AI startup Anthropic, which Alphabet and Salesforce have both also invested large sums in. Anthropic’s AI chatbot Claude has actually outperformed OpenAI’s ChatGPT on several benchmarks, including mathematics, reasoning, coding and general knowledge tasks. As a result of Amazon’s investment, Anthropic has agreed to use Amazon Web Services as its cloud provider, as well as using Amazon’s AI chips and helping to further develop the chip technology in the future. The chips will be used in a range of Amazon projects and products including Alexa - the virtual assistant that voices Echo devices - which will benefit from enhanced AI.

Analysts think that Amazon Web Services could become a leader in cloud computing, and the recent investment in Anthropic is another positive indication of this. Amazon has also recently partnered with chipmaker Nvidia.
