Is Ford Stock Worth It? Analysts Are Split | Nemo

Name of opportunity: 👀

Ford Motor Co

Ex-dividend date next Wednesday: 🤑

The ex-dividend date for Ford is next week on Wednesday 7 August, meaning that anyone who is in possession of Ford stock by Monday 5 will be eligible to receive dividends. If you were to buy shares on Monday, you might be too late, as you need to allow time for the trade to settle and for you to be included in the list of investors - aim for at least two days before the ex-div date.

Ford's dividend yield of 5.61% is above average, making it attractive for income investors. If you invested $1000 you would be paid $56.10 a year in dividends (based on the last 12 months).

However, while the dividends are looking great, Ford is currently recommended overall as a ‘Hold’. Many analysts believe that the company is underperforming compared to competitors like GM and Toyota. One reason for this is the company’s ongoing difficulties with its electric vehicle division. It was reported in April this year that Ford lost US$130,000 on every electric vehicle it sold in the first quarter of the year.

On the other hand, analysts overall predict that the value of Ford’s stock could increase by 27.60% in the next year. They think it could increase from $10.13 to $13.64 in the next 12 months. If you invested $1000, you might profit $275.96.

Some analysts such as writers at The Motley Fool think that Ford has potential to bounce back from its current dip, especially if the company pulls back and changes focus, spending less for now on electric vehicles and paying more attention to more profitable divisions. The company is in ‘Above Average’ financial health so in the long term, Ford’s current difficulties might not remain an issue.

Another reason for this potential increase in value is that Ford has announced that in 2025, it will release a new version of its smash hit Maverick, a small pickup truck that 94,000 people purchased in the US last year alone. Launched in 2021, the truck is available as a gas-electric hybrid, or gas powered.
